Label Watch: 5 Preview

Okay, I stumbled across this Italian brand, 5 Preview, by accident while surfing the web for a Chanel Logo T-Shirt.  (I have a friend who finds the best vintage tees on e-bay but I am never that lucky or persistent enough to do online bidding.)  5 Preview started in 2008 and began the line with tailored white t-shirts inspired by iconic fashion design houses, like Chanel/YSL, and also classic characters from pop culture, like Mickey Mouse.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the label's use of my two favorite colors: white & black ala Coco Chanel.

I think I am in love!  I just wish I knew how the t-shirts fit since they are unisex and pricey - I'd like to avoid having to make exchanges (and conversion rates, etc.) on international purchases!  Also, do I have to be as tres chic as the model to rock these tees?

So I am trying as hard as possible to stop buying so much shit --- (I live in a tiny studio - that's undergoing a foreclosure sale right now. Economy.  Ugh - and I can't afford much more clutter). I am not allowed to buy one of these tees until I really deserve it.  For example, if I hit the gym 4 times this week (remember I am incredibly lethargic and it's raining outside) maybe I will pick one up. :)

Label Watch: Winter Kate by Nicole Richie

Alright, so now that Nicole Richie has totally cleaned up her act (aka she's not strung out on heroin and hanging out with Paris Hilton all the time)... I have grown to love and admire her fashion and personal style.  

She started off by designing Jewelry for her House of Harlow line - which is vintage inspired and reasonably priced --- and just announced her new clothing line: Winter Kate.  (I wonder if it is inspired a little bit by my ultimate style icon ~ Kate Moss.)

Not sure how I feel about the line so far... it's definitely bohemian, vintage inspired, but I am not too down with prints.

Label Watch: Balenciaga Sahara Handbags

It's that time of year again - where it's time to find the perfect handbag for Spring.  OK OK, that really was just another excuse...since I was basically looking to expand my handbag collection.  

I was already dreaming about the perfect nude/ tan handbag for Spring;  So when I got an e-mail over the weekend from Barney's introducing the new Sahara color handbags from Balenciaga, I, of course, took that as a sign.   Simon Doonan was telling me to immediately get one in my closet, like right now.

 This is my top pick: The Balenciaga Giant City Handbag (a lot of working fashionistas that I know swear by the WORK size - but it's a little bit too oversized for me and doesn't come with a shoulder strap which really comes in handy while walking the dog, juggling groceries, taking the Muni).

I am typically not a fan of the giant hardware (the only bag in my current collection is the black city with the classic hardware) - but I DO think the Silver Giant hardware compliments the Sahara color perfectly and doesn't look like giant nipples, madonna cone boobs, thimbles, etc.  My only concern is how to keep this bag clean and protect it. <3

I think Barney's New York is also carrying this new style by Balenciaga exclusively called the ARENA GIANT COVERED VELO (I could be lying but I haven't seen them on the official website or in stores anywhere else). 

The size is a little bigger than the CITY but smaller than the WORK - and it features an extra long shoulder strap so it can be slung across the body like a messenger bag.
