Alright, so I have to give a shout out to my friend, Mackenzie - who first discovered Sergio Gutierrez in a boutique on 4th street in Berkeley, CA. We didn't know who the designer was of her fabulous and uber unique looking silver bracelet - but instantly fell in love with it.
I was walking down Union Street one day in San Francisco and saw a bracelet that looked similar at DKO (its a Euro style boutique) and instantly snapped it up/ died of excitement. Then I was in Seattle and my lovely waitor @ Bacco Restaurant (please go there if you are ever in Seattle - it's delicious) told me that he saw a bracelet like mine at the Seattle Art Museum. From there, the hunt to find out who made the bracelet was ON! I was literally searching Google for "Mesh Jewelry" and let me tell you not one result landed me in the right direction and yes, there is a shitload of scary mesh apparel out there. Yikes!!
Here's the scoop. Sergio Gutierrez is a Miami, FL based designer who created a collection of Jewelry called Liquid Metal. He was born in Columbia and actually got his start in San Francisco - figuring out how to work with ball and chain to create mesh like fabrics. This was the basis for the liquid metal collection that is FABULOUS. He also has liquid metal clothing (kinda scary) and other jewelry collections where he incorporates leather and precious stones, etc. into his liquid metal designs.
This is the bracelet that I want which is featured on his website right now! I am just waiting for my next paycheck so I can scoop it up! It's still very hard to find his jewelry in stores - but I did find a store in Portland, OR that carries a great selection of his stuff. And I believe if you order from P-town it will be Tax free (added bonus).
