Ok so ankle boots have been a pretty big trend for the past few years - and although they can look very awkward and clunky, I finally sacked up and purchased my first pair. I picked up this Sam Edelman Krosby pair at Ambiance on Haight Street in San Francisco.
My first thought was these are well pretty weird looking and most people probably would not rush to this style, but let's be honest - I like to push the envelope just a little bit. (They remind me a little bit of medieval boots ala Leonardo in The Man in The Iron Mask - I am not really sure why...)
Not only are they extremely comfortable due to the wedge heel, they are also surprisingly versatile! The leather cut outs on the boots give them a sort of rock n' roll, edgy feel, which is the perfect complement to toughen up all the ruffly, frilly, romantic tops/blouses in the stores.
I have been wearing them with everything from black opaque tights with colored dresses, cashmere dresses and trousers to work, leggings (my quintessential wardrobe staple) and even with bare legs on warmer days. Needless to say, I am now obsessed and maybe a nice Christian Louboutin pair will make it into my wardrobe in the near future. (Available at Barneys NY or Net-A- Porter - Bang Bang Ankle Boots $1,125.)
